NHL Still On Strike!

Well, I believe I've read that talks have stalled again and that more games in the season have been cancelled.  Way to go guys!  This year is turning out be a very lackluster year for hockey.  Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

You Tube Boxing Community: YTBC and Bloodboxing

I'm a huge fan of boxing and especially the You Tube boxing community.  I love listening to different opinions from fight fans.  I used to watch Buddhaphy, KG21Karlito and some others.  I don't believe they really make videos anymore though.  One of the older members of this community of boxing fans on You Tube is BloodBoxing.  He's still going and he's still entertaining.  He gets involved in a lot of controversy and that can sidetrack his more intelligent boxing videos, but if you are fan of boxing I would check him out.  There's not much boxing coverage on sports shows today and if you want some interesting opinions I would watch some of his videos.   What's funny is I don't go to ESPN to watch analysis on boxing, I go to You Tube.

If he can cut out the beefs with other youtubers, his channel would be the perfect boxing channel to watch.  Another criticism i have is that he as of recent only seems to talk about the big name fighters such as Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.  I believe this is what sidetracks most of his videos and topics with nonsense.  Those two fighters have a very combative fan base.  I also would like to hear his thoughts on past and upcoming fights like Amir vs Garcia, Judah vs Garcia, Mosley Vs Malignaggi, Ricky Hatton's comeback loss etc...

That's it.  I just thought I'd share a source of entertainment for any fans of the sport of boxing out there.  It's one of those channels that I keep coming back to.

Boxing: Amir Khan Dismantles Carlos Molina

Having seen the latest Amir Khan fight, I will say he did pick up some new things from his new trainer, Virgil Hunter.  I don't think Carlos Molina was a true test for Khan and it doesn't really wow me to see him win this fight.  Molina still took advantage of some mistakes that Khan was making that he's made from past fights.  The thing is, if this were another opponent that was a true name fighter, Khan might've been in some trouble.  Molina didn't have the power to affect Amir Khan where others might have.  While he emphasized patience and not going to wars in a whole bunch of interviews as of late, Khan still engaged in some exchanges that I believe would've hurt or even floored him if he were fighting someone else.

Virgil Hunter seemed to have Khan throw combinations and then back off quite a bit.  That was one thing I saw Khan doing alot in this fight.  That could help him significantly if he keeps composed for future fights.  Can I see him beating Danny Garcia?  Yes I can.  Can I see Garcia knocking him out again?  Yes I certainly can.  It all depends on weather or not Khan makes certain mistakes at certain times.  Garcia has the power to hurt Khan where as Molina did not.  Amir is an exciting fighter though, hopefully he can get some name fighters for his next few bouts.

Pacquiao Versus Marquez 4: Who's Stronger?

Anyone check out the weigh-in for the upcoming fourth fight between Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao?  Marquez has been looking in great shape ever since hooking up with his new strength and conditioning coach.  The thing is, he looked bigger and more muscular than Manny, but he weighed far less.  Marquez came in at 143 lbs.  Pacquiao came in at 147 lbs.  So Manny is heavier.  Will this effect the fight?   I don't know, it might.  It will be interesting to see if Marquez picked up some speed as well as strength.  I believe their last fight was at 144 lbs or something and Manny was used to fighting at 147.  He may have had a little bit of a strength drain in that one.

I also worry about Pacquiao's killer instinct.  It wasn't there with Bradley.  I felt as though he let him slide a bit and ended up paying the price.  While this is no Floyd Mayweather vs. Pacquiao super fight, its still going to be an exciting one.  Can't wait to see what happens.

Boxing: Will Ricky Hatton Come Out Of Retirement Again?

Ok, so Ricky Hatton lost.  Senchenko drilled him with a body shot and he couldn't get up.  You have to remember that this guy was out of the game for 3 years.  He comes back and fights an active fighter that was a world champion just before this and who only has one loss.  Did Ricky do bad?  Not in my opinion.  I was actually surprised at how well he did.  He controlled the fight for the majority of it.  He didn't even take a tune up fight.  I hope he takes the time to sit and think about another fight with Paulie Malignaggi.  He may have made his decision to retire again based off emotion.  Hatton was quite upset at the manner in which he lost and felt as though he let the fans down.  I wouldn't mind seeing a Hatton vs Judah bout.  Zab is no tune up though.

While as of now Ricky Hatton is still officially retired, I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back one more time to take on Paulie.  I think he should've taken at least 2 prep fights before jumping in with someone like Senchenko.

NFL: When will the Jets utilize Tim Tebow?

Ok, I said it.  Just let Tebow start.  Most people don't like Tim Tebow for his religious views and try to disguise it as something else.  Others say he is a terrible quarterback.  I ask this question.  Does he win?  Did he get big wins?  I am sure others will disagree, but we would not be talking about Tebow if he didn't win.  You throw religion into the mix and you get controversy, but nobody would be talking about him just because he's a religious sports player.  What is going on with the Jets in my opinion is beyond stupid.  Why even get the guy?  Let him play somewhere else.  The Jet's coach needs to wise up and stop the tough guy attitude.  Whoa, you are sticking to your guns, and guess what?  Your guns are losing the draw everytime.  Be a man and do what's right.  Check your pride at the door.  You were WRONG in starting Sanchez.  He's had numerous chances and came up short and by you sticking with him, you are coming up short as a coach.   The fans don't deserve this.  When I say fans, I am talking about both Jets fans and NFL fans.  I imagine more people would be watching a Jets game if Tebow suits up as quarterback.

In closing I'd just like to say that I hope Tebow somehow remains ready incase it happens.  How do you do what he did last year and be virtually a non player the next.  Keep your head up Tim.  The Jets don't deserve you and hopefully you get a better team and a better coach sometime in the near future.

NHL Lockout Is Killing The Sport

What's up everyone?  I know it's been a long time since the last post.  Actually, I'd like to say what's up to all those hockey fans out there?  What do you guys think of this strike?  Personally I think greed is killing a sport that wasn't at the top of everyone's list.  Hockey has almost always ranked way behind basketball, baseball, and of course the number one sport in America, football.  So why does everyone think that we can just lose a season and pick up right where we left off?  I don't think we can.  This happened before and it took sometime to recover and I don't even think it fully recovered from the last strike.

As of right now, no one really cares about hockey.  From the mid 90s to current, I've seen local hockey leagues have a drop in the number of people playing.  I remember one league in 1997 having like close to ten teams then dropping to about 4 the following couple of years.  Even today I don't imagine it being much more than that.  What's going to happen when the NHL and players reach an agreement.  Will all of the star players still be star players, or will they have lost their edge?  I imagine some of them will.  The fans probably will take some time to adjust to this.  Its no fun seeing the athletes who were your favorites suddenly not performing like the last time you saw them.  Lets hope most of them are staying as active as possible.

Enough of the negativity though.  I do have to say it is nice seeing the Winnipeg Jets back as a team.  I'm sure Winnipeg folks are happy as well.  There's nothing like seeing an old sports team back in the fold.  While this post is about hockey,  my next one will most likely be about football.  Can anyone guess which teams and topics will be of discussion in that sport?
